The game is presented in a 2.5D perspective, but shifts to a over the shoulder semi-3D view when combat is initiated. Which, as usual in a console RPG, happens VERY often.

The combat is turn-based. Depending on which character you choose your combat will either be almost entirely melee or magic based. You cannot see your potential enemies wandering around the world, but there is a radar map that shows enemies as white dots.

Any console RPG fan should feel right at home.
